If it's fragrance than you are most likely looking for Viburnum X 'Carcephaelum' or fragrant snow ball viburnum. Many similar types in the Viburnum species such as 'Juddi' 'Carlesii' etc. These bloom in the spring and have an incredible fragrance (rivals lilac).
Reply:hydrangeas are big bushes with huge ball flowers
Reply:how about a magnolia? they smell nice and have white flowers. Also Jasmine, or gardenia.
Reply:I suspect you are thinking of the "Snow Ball Bush", white clusters of flowers in balls, similar to hydrangea, but white.
Reply:Japanese Snowball bush...it's a viburnum. Juddii is a very fragrant one also. The double file vibernum is not a very fragrant variety, but has interesting flowers.
Reply:a peony bush
Reply:Hydrangea, Snowball variety, not a lot of fragrance, but some like the "Pee Gee" have a soft, sweet fragrance

White allium, has a garlic/onionesque fragrance

Viburnum, white varieties, aka Snowball plant, the fragrance is intense
Reply:Hydrangea comes in a variety of sizes and colors including white. Take a look at the pictures on the following link:

Reply:Could be any of the ones listed. Best way is to look at the leaves and compare. Peonies and snowballs are both blooming in my area right now. Snowballs are generally larger bushes, peonies are usually about 2 ft x 2ft around.
