What is the name of this flower plant? description below?

It's evry common, it's often at stores in the front or at parks or people's gardens. It has thin little lavendar petals that are pointy and clsoed looking and with a bunch of thick green stems/leaves supporting it, and is bush. some1 i know came in contact with these possibly orally and I would like to know the name of them and if theyre poisonous? or at least some suggestions and then I could look them up under images?

lemme guess ... someone chewed on the Salvia in mom's garden, hoping to get high.....
Reply:Sounds like lavender or salvia also known as may night. Don't know if they are poisonous. I would think that lavender isn't since it is used in many products and I think I have even seen Martha Stewart put it in lemonade? These plants look a lot alike but are very different. Reply:Your best bet is to take a sample of the flower to a reputable landscaping company.
Reply:It very well could be pansy, as they are edible (you came into contact with them orally).
